a project focused on Refining my skills in Adobe illustrator, photoshop and photography.
process
i drew Inspiration from fruit stickers and stickers in general as well as different logos an designs From Pintrest.
Then I started making a multitude of designs on Adobe illustrator(see further down). while designing i had a main goal of making everything easy to cut and Utilizing a Variety of illustrator tools. which lead me to limit the super tiny Details, while focusing more on color grading and learning tools like Color-halftones, object/ text arching and patterns among other things.
while finishing the designs i knew i wanted the stickers to have a glossy finish, after experimenting on different papers i landed on a 115 GSM glossy sticker photo paper.
during the selection of the paper and the designs i wanted to use i looked for the “perfect melon”, once found i scaled my sticker sheet to the melon so the stickers would be an appropriate size.
i placed the stickers on my scanner and made a short stop motion video as a teaser and a showcase of the designs.
after placing the stickers on the watermelon using the adhesive the paper came with, as well as some pins for areas where it didi’t stick. I Started making my photo booth with long Rolls of white paper. Then when i got the Preferred lighting in my light box i started to photograph it while turning it some degrees each photo, as well as different angels.
when i Finished the selection of pictures i wanted i went into Adobe photoshop, removed the Background, color Corrected and Edited the picture, added a glow around the edge of the melon and put it on a clean white background.
for the finished result i decided to place the melons in threes on one page each showing all the stickers.I also made a stop motion video of the melon and all its sides to better show that the stickers envelop the whole melon.
