ORiGAMI SHIRT
A PROJECT FOCUSED ON DRAPING AND RECoNSTRUCTION.
I have a growing interest in origami which is the Japanese art of paper folding to create shapes and animals and Shibari/kinbaku the art of erotic binding and restraints Conceived in Japan.
This made me want to do a project where i create something that is in its core Feminine and technical, where i can Insinuate the Feminine curves and Characteristics while it being Equally Alluring and Beautiful while also showing a Degree of skill and Cleanliness both in the garment and the wearer.
with this in mind i landed on reconstructing a xl mens shirt to a womens size 36 using the technique of draping on a Mannequin.
to give my self a Challenge i wanted to not cut anything off the shirt while draping. This would also show more of the origami Inspiration Because if you look at the inside of the shirt you can se every fold and crease i created.
the finished product had 4 cuts in its Entirety, one to crop the shirt, two to shorten the Sleeves and one to cut out the chest window.
otherwise every Detail is created with folds where
i fold parts to bring in the waist, chest and back to make the shirt grip the curves more.
create designs and give the shirt a Distinct look.
hide away and or move Excess fabric.
I also did a handfull of Detail seams ex. the backs bar tac designs that hold the folds together and the bar tac on the front pen holder pocket.

once i finished the shirt i Felt it would be the perfect Opportunity to work on my photography and Editing skills with a photoshoot, where i can also show of the look and vibe i had in mind with my Inspiration and thoughts during the construction.
after getting the perfect model we decided on having the photoshoot in my Bedroom since it has great interior design and i could have more creative freedom since i know all the lighting and angels that would look good.
after i putt together an outfit that fit with the vibe of the shirt we started shooting.
while photographing i also recorded footage on my old camcorder which i then made 3 short music edits, too further show the vibe the shirt is meant too give.
after photographing on my iphone 11 i selected 57 pictures out of around 500 that we liked and i started Editing them on adobe photoshop. i then selected the best of the best out the 57 pictures and ended up with 38 where i Ordered and placed them on a template in Adobe indesign. then voilá
