a project focused on redesigning and upscaling boring denim.

THOUGHTS/ process

after wearing numerus plain black jeans for years, i got bored with it and wanted to make a pair that would Rejuvenate a classic but boring garment.

i took a lot of Inspiration from carpenter pants and workwear with their “double knee” pants, did a rough sketch of what i wanted, a lot of rivets, distressing and Spiked Details. this way i could hone my skills in sanding and distressing but also ironing and pressing sharp angels/ spike tips. Also it looks good.

With that i started looking for a pair of Sacrificial jeans, after finding a pair in my closet witch had the same wash and wear, i ended up wit two pairs of pure black stone washed weekday astro jeans.

I drew the panels directly on the Sacrificial pair to minimize paper waste and have a more precise final result. After drawing out one panel for the inseam to make the pants baggier and one panel for the “double knee” effect i cut them out and then used the one knee panel as a guide and cut out another one on the other side of the pants.

The reason i decided to use Another pair of jeans for fabric is because of the stone wash, since both of the jeans were stone washed i would cut out The knee panels with the intention of having the Side-seam in it, because it would then line up with the existing one on the base pair. This would make it so that the panels kind of morph together with the jeans since they have the same wash and pre Existing seams.

Once all the Preparations were done i started sewing, double normal top stitch Along the shapes Edges, and two flat felt seams on the inseam, As well as re sewing the hems.

After adding the rivets on every point of the shapes and replacing the Existing ones on the front pockets as well as adding ones on the back pockets, and Embroidering two logos one on the back tag and one on the front left pocket, i was done.
